Noboa assumes the presidency of Ecuador and maintains that his youth is strength

The Foreign Ministry awarded Noboa the decoration of the National Order of Merit, in the degree of Great Collar.

After the possession of Noboa, Lasso and Borrero left the Assembly , as established by protocol.

At 11:46 on November 23, Daniel Noboa was sworn in and sworn in as President of Ecuador, a position he will hold until 2025.

Minutes later, the president of the Legislature imposed the presidential sash on him, which reads: “My power in the Constitution.”

The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro , arrived at the Plenary Assembly in the middle of Kronfle’s speech, who greeted him.

The first authority to speak was Henry Kronfle, president of the Legislature. 

During his speech he referred to democracy,  about which he maintained that “the powers of the state must necessarily be limited .”

He added that to be a better country, “coordinated work with the other powers of the State” is required . 

He concluded by saying that he hopes that the new authorities will build a country of peace and progress.

After 11:00, President Guillermo Lasso arrived. He did so accompanied by his wife María de Lourdes Alcívar, who has been present throughout his government.

Lasso leaves office two and a half years after being elected. He does so after decreeing the death of a cross and dissolving the Assembly, while facing impeachment for alleged corruption in his Government. With this he called for extraordinary elections.

President-elect Daniel Noboa arrived at the Assembly at 10:55 on Thursday.

He did so accompanied by his wife Lavinia Valbonesi and their two children.

The new Vice President, Verónica Abad, arrived around 10:50.

The president of the Legislative Assembly, Henry Kronfle, of the Social Christian Party, greeted Vice President Alfredo Borrero on the red carpet of the Legislative Assembly.

Authorities of the new Government also accompany Noboa this Thursday.

That is the case of Chancellor Gabriela Sommerfeld and Sports Minister Andrés Guschmer.

The big absentee of the day is the father of the new President: Álvaro Noboa , businessman and former candidate for the Presidency of Ecuador.

“Alvarito”, as Ecuadorians know him, did not attend the inauguration due to health problems.

“He is really very sorry that he cannot accompany us today. He wasn’t feeling very well. But he is here with his heart and always supporting his son,” said Isabel Noboa, Álvaro’s sister.

Annabella Azín, Noboa’s mother, entered around 10:20 on November 23.

Another authority that has arrived at Noboa’s possession is the attorney general, Diana Salazar. 

Noboa has defended the prosecutor. This after he assured that his Government’s agenda does not include supporting his possible impeachment, which is driven by Correism. 

Prefects have also arrived at the Legislative, such as Marcela Aguiñaga, from Guayas; Lourdes Tibán, from Cotopaxi; and Paola Pabón, from Pichincha. 

Also on the list of characters who walked the red carpet is the president of LigaPro, Miguel Ángel Loor.

One of the first people to arrive at the Nela Martínez room was the businesswoman Isabel Noboa, the president’s aunt. She wished her nephew luck and success.

“We hope that your youth will be a force to move the country forward,” said the businesswoman.

Two hours before the ceremony, the first guests began to arrive at the Plenary Hall of the Assembly.

Among the guests are relatives of Noboa and Vice President Verónica Abad, national authorities, assembly members, former assembly members and other figures.

Former assemblywoman Wilma Andrade (ID), who was vice president of the Noboa commission in the previous legislative period, is one of the guests. Upon her arrival, she expressed that she trusts the work of the new president.

Daniel Noboa’s inauguration day began with a private mass (Tedeum) in the Metropolitan Cathedral , in the center of Quito. Daniel Noboa and Vice President Verónica Abad arrived at the Cathedral after 8:30.

They are accompanied by their family and close friends. National authorities are also present, such as the president of the Assembly, Henry Kronfle.

After the Tedeum, the elected authorities will go to the Assembly.

Supporters of the president-elect begin to arrive outside the National Assembly, some carrying the cardboard figures with the image of Noboa that were used during the electoral campaign.

Another group of supporters gathers in El Arbolito park. They carry banners supporting the future president.

At 05:30, the Metropolitan Transit Agency began road closures for the presidential inauguration of Daniel Noboa, which will last until 2:30 p.m.

There are 13 road closures around the National Assembly (AMT), which include 6 de Diciembre, 12 de Octubre, and Luis Felipe Borja avenues.

There are also changes in the routes of two Ecovía circuits:

Circuit E1: Guamaní – Marín Central.

Circuit E3: Playón de La Marín – Marín Central – Galo Plaza stop, where it resumes normal circulation.

Since early in the morning, preparations for the inauguration of Daniel Noboa have been underway in the Assembly in Quito.

In the Nela Martínez Plenary Room, where the possession ceremony will take place, floral arrangements were placed and chairs were placed with the names of the guests. About 600 people are expected.

The anti-explosive unit of the Police Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR) inspected the Plenary Hall.

Meanwhile, at the entrance to the Legislative Palace, the red carpet was placed on which Daniel Noboa will enter for the inauguration.
