Her partner, Verónica Abad, was also installed as Vice President.

The event took place in the Plenary Session of the National Assembly, where national and international authorities arrived. Members of the new cabinet also arrived.

Noboa will assume the Presidency after winning the extraordinary elections called after the current president Guillermo Lasso decreed the death of a cross on May 17.

The new president defeated Correísta Luisa González in the second round, with 51.83% of the votes.

Noboa will have a short mandate, just 16 months , to complete Lasso’s term, which ends in 2025.

The new president has announced that, once he takes office, he will declare a state of emergency to send two urgent economic laws to the Assembly.

Groups of people spread out outside the Carondelet Palace, in the center of Quito, to receive Daniel Noboa, who was sworn in as the new President of Ecuador.

People carried banners and even cardboard dolls of the President.

Noboa gave his first words as the new president of Ecuador.

During his speech he emphasized the need to generate employment to reduce the violence that the country is experiencing.

Ecuador has become one of the 10 countries with the highest crime rates in the world, according to the Global Report Against Transnational Organized Crime (Gitoc).

The new President added that he believes the country requires change with a sense of urgency. And he added that his youth is synonymous with strength.

In his words he mentioned his mother, Annabella Azín; and his father, Álvaro Noboa.

“I grew up alongside my mother’s social service and my father’s political struggle ,” he said.

He concluded by asking for everyone’s support.

“ I am a free and pragmatic man, who seeks to improve the lives of Ecuadorians,” he said.

    At 11:46 on November 23, Daniel Noboa was sworn in and sworn in as President of Ecuador, a position he will hold until 2025.

    After 11:00, President Guillermo Lasso arrived. He did so accompanied by his wife María de Lourdes Alcívar, who has been present throughout his government.

    Lasso leaves office two and a half years after being elected. He does so after decreeing the death of a cross and dissolving the Assembly, while facing impeachment for alleged corruption in his Government. With this he called for extraordinary elections.

    Another authority that has arrived at Noboa’s possession is the attorney general, Diana Salazar. 

    Noboa has defended the prosecutor. This after he assured that his Government’s agenda does not include supporting his possible impeachment, which is driven by Correism. 

    Prefects have also arrived at the Legislative, such as Marcela Aguiñaga, from Guayas; Lourdes Tibán, from Cotopaxi; and Paola Pabón, from Pichincha.

    Two hours before the ceremony, the first guests began to arrive at the Plenary Hall of the Assembly.

    Daniel Noboa’s inauguration day began with a private mass (Tedeum) in the Metropolitan Cathedral , in the center of Quito. Daniel Noboa and Vice President Verónica Abad arrived at the Cathedral after 8:30.

    They are accompanied by their family and close friends. National authorities are also present, such as the president of the Assembly, Henry Kronfle.

    After the Tedeum, the elected authorities will go to the Assembly.

    Road closures

    At 05:30, the Metropolitan Transit Agency began road closures for the presidential inauguration of Daniel Noboa, which will last until 2:30 p.m.

    There are 13 road closures around the National Assembly (AMT), which include 6 de Diciembre, 12 de Octubre, and Luis Felipe Borja avenues.

    There are also changes in the routes of two Ecovía circuits:

    Since early in the morning, preparations for the inauguration of Daniel Noboa have been underway in the Assembly in Quito.

    In the Nela Martínez Plenary Room, where the possession ceremony will take place, floral arrangements were placed and chairs were placed with the names of the guests. About 600 people are expected.

    The anti-explosive unit of the Police Intervention and Rescue Group (GIR) inspected the Plenary Hall.

    Meanwhile, at the entrance to the Legislative Palace, the red carpet was placed on which Daniel Noboa will enter for the inauguration.
