Opening of Mercado Libre offices in Ecuador will be in stages
The multinational Mercado Libre confirmed the opening of its offices in Ecuador. Through a statement, the company of Argentine origin indicated that at the beginning of March of this year, the General Director of Mercado Libre for the region that includes Chile, Peru and Ecuador, Alan Meyer, together with the new Manager of Mercado Libre in Ecuador , Philippe Fossaert, met with the Minister of Production, Julio José Prado.

The firm has offices in eight countries in the region. Ecuador will be the ninth.
Currently, the e-commerce platform in Ecuador has 30,000 active vendors , according to data from the firm.
In the meeting with Prado, the statement said, the executives explained that the installation of Mercado Libre in Ecuador will be carried out in stages.
“In phase one we seek to enable the possibility of paying for purchases on the platform , which allows us to provide greater security and implement our Protected Purchase program, this means that all purchases paid directly on the platform will be supported by Mercado Libre no matter what. whatever happens,” said Philippe Fossaert , manager of Mercado Libre Ecuador.
At the same time, “our logistics operation is being prepared , to be efficient in delivery and have traceability of purchases,” the executive added in the statement.
Mercado Libre is the largest e-commerce and payment operator in Latin America. Its platform has operations in 18 countries , and offices in 8 of them. The opening in Ecuador constitutes its ninth office in the region.
“Our purpose is to democratize commerce and payments in the region, we want to empower micro, small and medium-sized companies to access the platform to sell their products and expand their growth opportunities. Ecuador has the highest rates of entrepreneurs in the region, and that is a tremendous opportunity for them to join electronic commerce”, explained Meyer.
