Opposition Looks into Desertions of Alianza Pais
While the opposition tries to stay out of internal differences within the political party Alianza País (AP), an analysis of possible changes in the correlation of forces in the National Assembly is being studied.
Last week the majority of the party PAIS lost four members in the Assembly just because they opposed to the popular consult set by president Correa in order to reform the Montecristi Constitution.
Betty Amores, Cesar Gracias, Washington Cruz, and Maria Paula Romo were disbanded of the National Assembly. Meanwhile the Assemblyman of Sociedad Patriotica, Gilmar Gutierrez pointed out that his group will begin a process that permits the Legislative get out of the President hegemony.
The legislator of Alianza Libertad, Paco Moncayo stated that the desertions in AP would generate a quantitative change in the political management in the Assembly. Meanwhile the chief Assemblymen of the AP, Juan Carlos Cassinelli, assured last Wednesday that the opposition is trying to regroup itself from the Assembly installation, and never agree with anything.
Congressman Alfredo Ortiz clarified that they do not want to take advantage of the internal problems in the government, but they are already working on the consolidation of a large group for the mid-year elections.
“There is still nothing concrete. But we aim to recover the management of the Assembly and the ratification of the executive independence,” he said.
