PAIS Alliance denies request for resolution in support of dialogues initiated by Lenín Moreno
Ecuadornews:
The Legislature approved Thursday a resolution to open spaces of dialogue of its own; But hours earlier, with 63 votes Alianza PAIS denied the debate on a resolution in support of the approaches initiated by President Lenin Moreno with different political and social sectors.
The bill to support of Moreno’s dialogue policy was raised by Legislator Maria Mercedes Cuesta (Fuerza.Ec), but only obtained 54 votes of supports (out of 137).
The text contained three points: the first, support for Moreno’s dialogue; The second, a rejection of the “offensive statements of former President Rafael Correa against the policy of dialogue,” and, thirdly, to repudiate all acts of “political violence, especially those that seek the destabilization of government policies aimed at a national union.”
Cuesta said that the bill sought conciliation, and unfortunately, the AP bloc turned its back on its own president: “They did not reject me, but they rejected the support to their president.” (I)
