Palacio will not be able to leave the United States

Emilio Palacio, former chief of the opinion page of the Guayaquil’s Newspaper EL UNIVERSO, who sought asylum in the United States, announced that he can’t travel to Spain to receive his award for his work as a journalist granted  by the newspaper El Mundo,  since he has not received the pertinent authorization from the U.S.  authority.

“I could leave the United States, but without permission I take the risk that they could deny me the entry because that’s stipulated in the legal regulations,” said Emilio Palacio through a newsletter.

That’s why the former editor in chief canceled his trip to Cadiz, where the Award ceremony of the World Columnists is going to take place; the spanish newspaper granted the Award  in recognition of his bravery in professional practice.
