Venezuela’s government admitted yesterday that during the operation of President Hugo Chavez suffered complications due to a bleeding, but stated that the president is recovering and his vital signs are normal.

Ernesto Villegas, Minister of Communication of Venezuela, said Chavez is in a process of recovery that will “require a reasonable time due to the complexity of the procedure performed, as well as complications arising during surgery when a bleeding occurred, this required corrective action that allowed its proper control.”

This is the first time that the government of Venezuela gives details on the return of Chavez. Furthermore the Venezuelan Dr. Jose Marquina, said through his Twitter account that the socialist ruler’s health is “immunocompromised cancer and steroids.” Marquina is waiting for the test results to determine the type of infection and thereafter.
