Patiño Accuses Wikileaks Members As “Bad Spies”

Posted On 13 Apr 2011

Ecuadorian Foreign Minister, Ricardo Patiño, denied the Ecuadorian cables published by Wikileaks where they state that he would have received and managed funds granted by Venezuelan Government and the FARC for the presidential campaign of Rafael Correa in 2006.

Patiño said “the intelligence agencies from the U.S. are the most expensive in the world, but they appear to be incompetent because (they say) such amount of lies. (…) They are bad spies.” In addition, he stressed that “the thing that is real in these cables is what it appears on my website as my biography, my resume, and what I say (…).”

On the other hand, the opposition refused to believe the version of Patiño, and is determined to investigate. Cesar Montufar, opposition lawmaker, said this morning that he submitted a proposal for a National Assembly committee to investigate this issue.
