Peru Travels to Argentina with High Expectations
The Peruvian team directed by the Uruguayan Sergio Markarian travelled this Thursday to the Argentinean city of Mendoza with the hope of giving a good performance in Copa America.
However, the Sports Director showed some anguish by the absence of four players that suffered injuries in the final stages of the physical preparation for the tournament. This setback forced Markarian to change his plans as he removed from his list of players the main front liners Claudio Pizarro and Jefferson Farfan; defendors Carlos Zambrano and Luis Ramirez were also remove from the list after received strong blows during a friendly match against the team Senegal in Lima.
Markarian chose Paolo Guerrero as one of the front liner replacement. Peru will be incorporated in Group C along with Chile, Mexico and Uruguay. Their first match will be next Monday against Uruguay. (AV)
