The Angolan Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011 yesterday, in the last part of the contest held in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. Miss Universe gathered candidates from 89 different countries of the five continents.
Lopes, 25, is the successor to the Mexican Ximena Navarrete, the winner of the title in 2010.
In second place was the Ukrainian Olesia Stefanko, followed by the candidate from Brazil, Priscilla Machado, the sole representative of Latin American in the Group of Five Finalists, which was completed by the representatives of China, Luo Zilin, and the Philippines, Shamcey Supsup.
Leila Lopes is the first black woman, according to ANSA, to win the competition as the prettiest woman in the world by the organization that runs the U.S. millionaire Donald Trump.
