Pierina Correa
The president of the Sports Federation of Guayas and sister of the Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, submitted a letter of resignation to her membership in the ruling movement Alianza PAIS.
Pierina Correa had a dispute with the Minister of Sport, Jose Francisco Cevallos, who questioned his participation as a candidate for mayor of Milagro, the city where she was sponsoring the reelection of the current mayor, Francisco Azzan.
Cevallos was supported by the President, who regreted the statements of his sister. The Minister responded to Pierina Correa that her sports management of Guayas was not good.
Pierina Correa aspired to be a candidate for Alianza PAIS Prefect and when she resigned she said her decision is irrevocable and that her family relationships are intact.
