Political figures: among the most requested in new year’s eve

Within hours of celebrating the arrival of the new year, Ecuadorians are getting prepared for the traditional burning of the “old year” which is represented by a puppet made of wood, cardboard or sawdust.

Many families opt for sport players, monsters, artists, action figures, of all sizes and prices. However there is a faithful community to the tradition of burning any national or foreign political characters.

Several manufacturers and sellers recognize that in recent years the influx of people seeking political puppets has been low compared to the high demand for other fictional characters.

As usual, the best selling political figures are President Rafael Correa and Mayor Jaime Nebot. But also figures of other characters as former presidential candidate, Guillermo Lasso, or foreign leaders like Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela and Barack Obama, the U.S.  were also sold .
