Pope Benedict XVI Criticises Priests that Oppose Celibacy
Posted On 05 Apr 2012
In the Holy Thursday eve, Pope Benedict XVI condemned the priests that question the Church teachings regarding celibacy and the ordination of women into the clergy. The Pope pointed out that they are being selfish for disobeying his authority.
Benedict made a strong critic during his homily on Holy Thursday, when the priests renew their vows when they were ordered.
A group of Austrian priests started the Pfaffer Initiative in 2006, an exhortation of disobedience destined to abolish the celibacy in the priesthood and an opening for women so that they can diminish the shortage of priests.
Benedict said that the dissidents assured to be motivated by the concern of the Church. (AV)
