Alvaro Noboa Introduces the Winners of the Third International Bienniale of Painting

Artworks with impressionist and expressionist, of magical realm and hyperrealism were seen in the award ceremony of the Third International Bienniale of Painting of Alvaro Noboa.

Under the theme “The Elements of Nature” 201 artists sent their work since the call of this bienniale.

Alvaro Noboa, founding president of Luis A. Noboa Naranjo Museum, the host of the Third Biennial, expressed his thanks to contestants, the jury and the organizers of the event.

“We have gathered over 200 young painters from 21 countries and 14 provinces of Ecuador. (…) This work has been made by my group of collaborators in barely two months.”

Afterwards, the entrepreneur pointed out the importance of the theme the elements of nature as the main theme of the Bienniale.

“(…) If all the human beings depende of the elements of nature, we must be united to take care of it. This is the message of the Bienniale.”

The Ecuadorian artist, Rene Bohorquez won the first award. His work, of expressionist style participated under the title “Encarnada.” Bohorquez received from the hands of Alvaro Noboa the prize of $10,000.

The Cuban William Hernandez, obtained the second award in the competition, however he did not attended the ceremony, her niece Aitana Brito received the $5,000 in his stead.

The Ecuadorian artists Leonardo Lozano, Javier Gavilanes, Jacqueline Villamar and Nelson Santos, along with the American Robert Seng received the five revelation awards and $1,000 each.

Seven painters earned honor mentions: the Ecuadorians Juan Caguana, Jorge Velasco, Jose Cueva, Lenin Mera, Wilson Quichimbo, Dennis Navas and Hellen Constante. The American Jeffrey Bishop, who was part of the jury also earned a special mention.

The members of the jury were the Ecuadorian artists Enrique Tabara and Felix Arauz, the Bolivian aquarellist Pepe Luque, the American art critic Joseph Roberts and Jeffrey Bishop, also from USA.

The gallery will be open since tomorrow until May 5, from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 until 18:00, as well as Saturdays and Sundays from 13:00 to 18:00. The entrance is free.

The exhibition has artworks of 20 countries like Italy, Belgium, Venezuela, Bolivia, Russia, Spain and Canada. (BG)
