Pope Francis calls for an end of wars for 2015
Pope Francisco vowed yesterday for the year end all wars in the world, and used to greet the enthusiasm of a Mexican pilgrims during his traditional New Year message.
Francisco gave his speech pronounced before tens of thousands of faithful gathered in the St. Peter’s Square to celebrate the International Day of Peace.
“Cease the wars” asked the Argentine pope. “Peace is always possible but we have to preserve it, said in his speech.
“Prayer is the root of peace. Happy New Year to all. May it be a year of peace in the tenderness of the Lord …. ”
The message of peace after a bloody 2014 that saw record of deaths in wars in Syria and Iraq, was also emphasized in the traditional Mass held inside the basilica.
After the papal message to the crowd, sounded the first ringing of a bell, Maria Dolens, located in Rovereto, in northern Italy, and its 100 peals were broadcast through giant screens at the St. Peter’s Square.
