Ports of Guayaquil maintain leadership in bananas

Of 138’486.263 boxes of bananas that came out between January and May this year to Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Oceania, the 74.41% was shipped from local docks, mainly by state port Simon Bolivar (concessioned to Contecon), Fertisa and Bananapuerto, as reported by the latest statistical bulletin of the Association of Exporters (AEBE).
On the other hand, the 25.59% (ie 32´732.023 boxes) was shipped from Puerto Bolivar, located in El Oro.
