Postage Stamps will Immortalize Memory of Celia Cruz
From today, the image of the late Cuban singer Celia Cruz will be immortalized in the collection of the U.S postage stamps.
Currently, Cruz is part of the short list of Latin legends that have graced the “Forever Stamps”. Artists like Carmen Miranda, Selena, Tito Puente, and Carlos Gardel were the first ones that ones that made history with their immortalize image in postage stamps.
Omer Pardillo, president of Celia Cruz Foundation, announced in a statement: “It’s a very well deserved honor for Celia, because Celia was, is, and will be part of American culture and being immortalized in a postage stamp is something that I know she would have liked it a lot”.
The launch of ‘Forever Stamps’ took place during the music event’ South By Southwest “in Austin, Texas, in the presence of her relatives and executives of United States Postal Service (USPS). The stamps are already available on all postal services in the United States.
