PRE intends to register Abdala Bucaram Ortiz as candidate
The Partido Roldosista Ecuatoriano (PRE) will assist today at 11:00 am to the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) to register Abdala Bucaram Ortiz, currently exiled in Panama, as its presidential candidate for the 2013 elections.
However, the CNE ensures that the application will be impossible to register since the Code of Democracy has two requirements that must be met before a registration, which are, signing a form to accept the nomination of a candidate and the candidate’s presence for registration.
Abdala Bucaram Pulley, assemblyman and son of former president, argues that these requirements do not consist neither in the regulations nor the Code, “That’s not in the Code of Democracy, therefore there it doesn’t exist” he said.
According to Pulley, the law states that the candidate must accept its application at a public event, process that PRE did met by connecting via Skype with the former president. In addition, Assemblyman argues that the registration of candidates is made by the legal representative of the party. (MZ)
