President Noboa convenes the Public and State Security Council

President Daniel Noboa has called the members of the Public and State Security Council (Cosepe) to a meeting this Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Military and police entered the Guayaquil regional prison.

The event will take place in Guayaquil and at the end the Government will announce “important announcements for the security” of the country.

This was reported by the Secretary General of Communication of the Presidency, Roberto Izurieta. The official, in his account on the social network X, reported that he is on his way to Guayaquil to attend President Noboa’s call. 

The Cosepe meeting takes place after the operation that the Armed Forces and the Police carried out in the Guayaquil regional prison.

Both the police authorities and the National Service for Persons Deprived of Liberty (SNAI) have not given details of the results of the operation. 

In the last official statement from the SNAI, the entity reported that the security operation in the prison began in the early morning hours and that it was a Camex operation. I mean, it was gun control.
