President will pardon young woman who reported corruption on Facebook
Ecuadornews:

The President of the Republic, Lenin Moreno, ordered the Ministry of Justice to prepare a report to give way to the pardon of the young Sara Velástegui, who ina publication on June 13 in her Facebook account denounced alleged acts of corruption in the University of Ambato.
“We are a Government that protects freedom of expression and that fights against corruption, we always defend the free thinking of all Ecuadorians!” Moreno said in his Twitter account.
On September 21, Judge Sandro Perez, of the Ambato Judicial Unit of Contraventions, sentenced Sara to 40 days in prison in addition to the request for public apologies and the payment of $386.
The action against the student was interposed by the dean of the University, Galo Naranjo, for an attack against the honor.
Édison Lanza, Rapporteur of the Freedom of Expression of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), maintained that Velástegui’s case demonstrates that”Ecuador must modify the crime of insults.” (I)
