Price of Butter and Sugar Raises

Ecuadorian Bakers are affected by the new butter and sugar prices

Products such as butter, sugar and yeast, required for making bread, recorded a price increase of up to 15% this week.

The situation worries the bakers because the wheat quintal price also increased this week.

Representatives of the union argues that the profit margin has decreased to 20% in bakeries, especially small ones, who have already exhausted the reserves with the old prices.

Nicolas Lara, president of the Bakers Union of Guayaquil, asked the Government to implement a subsidy in the flour to ease the crisis. MZ
