Putin supports peace talks between Colombia and the FARC
The president of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos, added as a new international support for the peace talks being conducted with the FARC, to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Both presidents talked during the context of the Summit of the BRICS and the presidents of the Unasur countries, held in Brasilia. “He expressed his total helpfulness in whatever is needed, whether in political demonstrations or direct interventions,” Santos said after the meeting.
The Colombian president has described the support of Putin of utmost importance “by the symbolism that has Russia.”
The dialogues, which met 19 months in Havana, have already achieved partial agreements in three of the six points made in the book (agricultural development, political participation and drug trafficking). However, crucial issues as the treatment of victims are left to discuss.
