Quito Celebrates 478 Years of Foundation
Today Quito celebrates its 478 years of Spanish foundation, and as every year, the Ecuadorian capital so-called “Light of America”, is preparing to celebrate in style this civic holiday, one of the most significant to our country.
For several weeks, Quito has been dressed with lights, music, color, fun and flavors to commemorate its institution as the capital of Ecuador to become what its citizens call “God’s face”.
Parades, food fairs, music, dance, theater; there’s a party in every corner of the city. From its Historic Center, declared in 1978 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, to the north and south, which have come to extend to the valleys.
Quito, the city that has managed to preserve its colonial touch, its history and nature, has become a modern and regenerated metropolis and a big economic power of our country.
