Argentine Jewish community demands apology from Rafael Correa
An “immediate apology” is all that the leaders of the Simon Wiesenthal International Center, ask to President Rafael Correa for his “contempt for the victims of terrorism sponsored by Iran.”
The incident comes after Correa, in an interview with C5N (network affiliated to the Argentine government) said, referring to the AMIA bombing, “The story was painful for Argentina, but see how many were killed in the NATO bombing of Libya. Let’s see where is the real danger. ”
On their behalf, politicians of the Jewish community in the country, one of the largest in the world outside of Israel, expressed “astonishment and deep regret” to the words of Correa.
“It is disrespectful to our country. It was an attack against the Argentines, not only Jews were killed but also Argentines and Paraguayans, ” said the president of the Delegation of Argentine Jewish Associations (DAIA for its Spanish acronym), Julio Schlosser. (MZ)
