Ecuadorian’s capital city will honor two legendary Chilean characters, whom influenced Latin America in the literary and political  spheres, Pablo Neruda and Salvador Allende.

The Metropolitan Cultural Center of Quito will host the exhibitions in two adjoining rooms, which will highlight the legacy of each of the charcaters, due to the 40th anniversary of the death of both.

Francisco Morales, exhibitions coordinator of the center, explains that in this event, the poet and former governor ‘hold talks’ over their lives, their works and their experiences, so that visitors understand the essence of each of their personalities.

It will be screened Ecuadorian newspapers which will narrate Neruda’s surprise visit to Guayaquil in 1957, also handwritten letters, portraits of the poet and other elements. While about Chilean former president, will be projected “U  canto de Vida,” which highlights “his character, his integrity, his decision to act and die for an ideal.”
