Quito Presented a Subway Project for 2012
Posted On 23 Jun 2011
Quito’s first subway is the recent project presented by the capital city of Ecuador. The work will begin in July 2012 and will end in 36 months.
Last Tuesday it was presented the feasibility and economic studies. The average cost of the ride ticket would be $ 0.40, price that will repay the debt until 2030. The investment for this project is $ 1,386 million, of which the government will grant 50%.
Technically, the project is viable despite the geography of Quito and despite the fact that the capital city is located in a seismic zone. Advanced building systems will be applied to counter the presence of groundwater. (BG)
