Quito strives to be one of the Seven Wonders Cities of the World

The architectural beauty of Quito has allowed the city to achieve major titles as Latin American Capital of Culture, Cloister of America or Cultural Heritage of Humanity, among others.

 Worldwide voting concluded , and today will be known if the capital of the Republic is one of the 14 finalists of the contest Seven Wonders Cities of the World.

After competing with 1,179 cities worldwide, Quito is among the 21 finalists contest Seven Wonders Cities of the World, an event organized by the New Seven Wonders Foundation of the company New Open World Corporation (NOWC).

For December 7 is planned to publicize the names of the seven winning cities, considered Wonders of the World. A competition started in January 2012 and which is now in its fourth and final phase that will culminate in the aforementioned date.

Among the semifinalist cities are: Vigan, Bangkok, Beirut, Chicago, Doha, Durban, Havana, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz, London, Mendoza, Mexico, Mumbai, Perth, Reykjavik, Seoul, Shenzhen, St. Petersburg and Barcelona.
