‘La Pareja Feliz’ TV show is sanctioned by discriminatory content, according to Supercom (video)
The Superintendency of Information and Communication (Supercom) sanctioned Teleamazonas TV by the transmission of a chapter in the TV show ‘La Pareja Feliz’ (The Happy Couple for its English name), which broadcasts discriminatory content.
The complaint was filed by the President of the Silueta X Association, Diane Rodriguez, and it refers to a chapter transmitted on January 2, 2014.According to a determination of the Supercom, the episode violates Article 62 of the Communications Law.
In the resolution it is established “a public apology to the collectivity of diverse sexual orientation, within the 72 hours, counting from the notification of the resolution” and within the same space . Likewise, this should be published on the website of the channel.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the first instance in the Ombudsman´s Office, focuses on the chapter of the visit of Valentine´s brother (one of the characters in the series).
According to Rodríguez, the other characters, the music, trumpets sounds and other items are part of the discriminatory expressions in the chapter.
