The least expensive proposal was Odebrecht Acciona´s which amounts to USD 1 777 million to build the tunnel, the stops and electrical installations. OHL-ICA proposed 2139 million; Metro Dragados Hyundai OAS 2183 million and Ansaldo Impregilo Herdoiza Crespo 1908 million.
The previously established cost would be less than the one for Lima and Panama City, cities that chose this transport.
The Mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas, said he had a brief meeting with President Rafael Correa, in which the government agreed to pay USD 750 million from the original amount.
The President of the Quito Chamber of Construction Hermel Flores, considered that it is recommendable to cancel the bidding. He also suggested to review the studies to determine the reasons why the budget was undervalued.
Studies were contracted with Madrid Community. They cost $ 29 million, and the proposal for the ticket price was of USD 0,45 to 0,70.
