Rafael Correa asked permission to promote his campaign
Posted On 21 Dec 2012
Ecuadorian President revealed today at a press conference that he has made a request to the National Assembly for a license that would allow him to leave his office for a month in order to prepare his campaign and promote his reelection.
Correa, currently first in the polls, said that the law gives only 30 days of license, so the permission will not begin on next January 4th (official campaign starting date), but from January 15th to February 14th, three days before the elections.
The president also said he hopes to get 63 votes in the Assembly to approve the license, although, ironically, said the opposition might refuse it.
