Rafael Correa Will Not Sue His Brother Because He Respects His Mother

Posted On 29 Mar 2011

Ecuadorian President, Rafael Correa, said yesterday in an interview with FMMundo, that he will not sue his brother Fabricio Correa because he respects his mother.

He made this statement because of demand that the President brought against journalists Juan Carlos Calderon and Christian Zurita. According to the President, in the book called “Big Brother”, it is asserted without evidence that he knew the contracts between the State and companies related to Fabricio Correa.

According to the authors of the book, these statements were expressed by President Correa’s brother. The text also cited statements by the Head of State, which denies any knowledge of these businesses.

“I will not sue my brother because of the respect that I have for my mother; my friends know very well my opinion about my brother. Because of the respect I have for my mother and my family I cannot sue him, but I can sue people that used Fabricio Correa to sell a book,” said the President in the interview with journalist Estefani Espin.
