Rafael Nadal Announced Retirement from Masters 1000 in Miami
Through a press conference, Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal announced his retirement from Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, because of his injured left knee.
Nadal, who reached the semifinals this time, has played the last games of the second season of the 1000 Masters, conditioned by the injury. It was time to be prepared to face Andy Murray.
In his last match against Japanese Kei Nishikori (second round), Nadal sought medical care at the court, where he blindfolded the affected area.
The player said the injury started in the tournament in Indian Wells, a week before, and since then he suffered pain in that area.
The Spanish also resigned to play the Davis Cup with Spain in the tie against Austria next week because he is suffering tendinitis in his knees.
