Rafael Nadal wins Roland Garros breaking the record
Today the Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal became the first player to win eight titles in the same Grand Slam tournament after defeating his counterpart, the Spanish David Ferrer at the French Open with a final score of 6-3, 6 – 2, 6-3. This is the fourth final played between two Spaniards.
Nadal broke the men’s record of wins at Roland Garros, a title that was once held by the Argentine Guillermo Vilas who was seven-time champion. Nadal becomes a tennis legend with this victory and reaffirms being the king of clay. That is, the best tennis player in the world on clay.
“Beating Rafa (Nadal) is very hard on any surface,” admitted Ferrer.
