Posted On 04 May 2015
This Saturday, the waters of the Mancha Grande River overflowed due to rains, causing floods in the Abdon Calderon and San Placido parishes, in Portoviejo, affecting the homes and businesses of approximately 400 families in the area.
The zones El Forestal, La Cienega, Pimpiguasí, Calle 10 de Agosto, and the communes El Hormiguero, La Balsa, and El Naranjal, were the most affected places by the rains, according to Juan Farias, president of Abdon Calderon. The canal waters of the Poza Honda dam in Santa Ana rose to 107, 3 meters above the sea level, so water had to be evacuated. While in Machala, province of El Oro, an endless rain of seven hours flooded the streets and around 50 homes.
