Ramón Espinel will Stay in his Position
Posted On 10 Mar 2011
Ramon Espinel resigned as Minister of Agriculture yesterday, however he has not left his position since President Rafael Correa has not approved his resignation. Espinel replaced Walter Poveda on July 15, 2009 and this is the second time he renounces–the first time he wanted to step back was in August,2010–.
The resignation of the ex-officer was announced by the National Secretary of Communication, Fernando Alvarado.
“When you have these kind of responsibilities, you have to stay until the President makes a decision. Mr. Espinel has personal reasons to leave and we’re waiting for the President’s decision,” Miguel Carvajal, Viceminister of Rural Development, said.
