Reactions of President Correa and Foreign Minister Patiño to Pedro Delgado’s Lies and Resignation
President Rafael Correa Delgado commented through his Twitter account on the resignation of his cousin Pedro Delgado from the presidency of the Central Bank of Ecuador, after admitting that he lied about his professional degree.
“Hard day. We verified that Pedro Delgado had delivered a false degree. He has done serious harm to the revolution,” stated the president.
In addition, Correa said that the Central American Institute of Business Administration (Incae for its Spanish acronym) “didn’t play any games and only gave us, with proper authorization, the information we requested. We investigated seriously, like each of the previous lies and in this case it was true (…) we never allow the lack of ethics in our revolution (…) the vultures will have their beloved carrion for some time.”
Also, Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño, through the same social media and following up the President’s statement noted that “this government does not allow this type of behavior,” adding that “the corrupt press said a lot of lies about the actions of Pedro Delgado. That is demonstrated. The degree is a different matter. “
