Regulatory Council approves media registration

Last Tuesday, the Board of Adjustment approved in first debate, for the regulations for the Public Registry of the Media. During the first week of January the second and final debate will be carried out.

The company has until January 24, 2014 to approve the regulations, that is because the Communications Act imposed a period of 180 days, since it came into force (on June 25), to the rules to remain as listed.

“We are reaping what the law says, which establishes the obligation of registering (the media) in a register which is in charge of the Council Regulation and containing general data determined in the rules,” said the council president Patricio Barriga.

However Barriga used as an example the Internet and clarified that not all media must meet the same requirements.
