Restrictions on imports are reformed
Upon the implementation of the Resolution 116 of the Committee of Foreign Trade (Comex,) which establishes the previous import control for 293 products and adjustments to 120 new regulations set by the National Institute of Standardization (INEN) to enter the country’s ports, since several importing companies have been affected.
After knowing the discomfort in the sector, the Minister of Industries, Ramiro Gonzales, had a meeting last Monday with his main executives. Here, the Ministry took the decision to extend the term for compliance of the Resolution 116 for up to 6 months, provided by a commitment of the sector to increase the production and thereby stop importing.Among the most important decisions, which were taken, was the one that granted an exemption to comply with the standard to raw materials for production and export.
Upon learning of the news, importers of sectors such as cosmetics, toys, elevators, cables and meat viewed the resolution taken by the Government as positive.
