Romney and Obama Compete for female vote amid controversy
Romney’s campaign and the president of the United States has taken a new path, after Ann Romney (wife of Republican candidate for The White House) created on Wednesday night a Twitter account for herself to respond to Democratic political commentator Hilary Rosen.
Rosen broke the basic rule of an election campaign: Attack politics, but leave out of it to the family of the politician.
Rosen questioned on CNN the economic background of Ann Romney whose husband, Mitt Romney, considered an expert in that field and has repeatedly cited her as his mentor, both in economic and female topics.
“Your wife has not worked a day in her life,” said Rosen, ignoring that she had just opened the can of worms of the election campaign, the female vote.
“She has never faced with economic problems that most women in this country face every day in terms of how we feed our children, if we can send them to school or not, and our worry for their future, “said Rosen.
The claim spread in the social networks virally in less than two hours. Ann Romney created for the first time in her life a Twitter for her (@ AnnDRomney) to reply to Rosen: “I took the decision to stay home and raise my five children. Believe me, it’s hard work. “
Women, work, and Obama take several days to be the center of the political campaign ahead of the November presidential.
Rosen did not apologize in the beginning and wrote several tweets to maintain her position. “I also raised my children. But most American women HAVE to do both, they work and raise children, are you aware of it not? “Rosen finished saying, “Please, have no doubt I admire you but your husband should not say that you are expert on women and economy.”
The apology finally arrived: “I apologize to Ann Romney or anyone who I may have offended.” “Let’s declare peace in this fake war and focus on what really matters.” (FL)
