Yekaterina Samutsevich, one of the members of the Russian punk band, Pussy Riot, was released today after the president of the appeal court of Moscow ordered the commutation of her two years prison sentence for a probation one.
The court considered the defense allegations of Samutsevich (30) new lawyer, who claimed that her client was not involved in the “prayer” before the altar, because she was detained 15 seconds after entering the cathedral.
However, the court reconfirmed the two year sentences for another two young women, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova (22) and Maria Alekhina (24), who were convicted of “inciting religious hatred” after having performed an anti-Putin “prayer punk” in a Moscow cathedral.
