Heriberto ‘el Lazca’ Lazcano, the supreme leader of the gruesome cartel Los Zetas was taken down by Marines of Mexico. This is one of the strongest blows carried out against the drug cartels on behalf of the ending government of the president Felipe Calderon.

According to the report of Coahuila’s prosecutor, Homero Ramos, a heavily armed group entered the funeral house to take the body of Lazcano. The event occurred around 01:30 of last Monday. Yesterday the Mexican president Felipe Calderon, confirmed the death of the drug dealer during a military operative.

However the Marines of Mexico published a second report showing pictures of Lazcano’s corpse, along with finger prints obtained from the body before it was stolen. The prints of the thumb, index and middle finger from the right hand confirmed the identity of Lazcano, an army deserter that in the late 90s he became one of the first members of Los Zetas. AV
