Salinas airport opens on Thursday

The General Airport Ulpiano Paez, of Salinas, is the only one in the country with two active runways for air operations and will be opened at 8:00 am on Thursday, as confirmed by John Gomez, provincial director of transport and public works in Santa Elena. It is expected the presence of the President of the Republic, Rafael Correa in the opening ceremony.
The value of this work, whose construction began in 2012, is more than 44 million dollars and is one of the most important works in this province. Featuring a track of 2,500 meters in length, an air terminal that will host up to 200 passengers, a tower control, hangar, technical block, parking lots and 27.5 meters of access roads.
A flight from Quito of the Tame company will open the operation.
The President of the Tourism Chamber of Salinas, Otton Arboleda, said that entrepreneurs in this sector expect to meet in the coming days with Vinicio Alvarado, Minister of tourism, to develop plans that allow them to bring international charter flights.
