Sectional Elections voters will be divided in two groups
The National Electoral Council (CNE) plans to have a new registry for the next sectional elections of February 2014, that would divide voters into two groups: active and passive.
According to the vice president of the electoral body, Paul Salazar, the purpose is “to sincere” the level of absenteeism in the process of election of officials.
Active voter’s registration shall consist of voters who are obligated to vote, while passive voter’s registration, will consist of those who have not voted in “recent years,” Salazar said, noting that the “passive” is yet to be defined.
The purpose is to have “more control over the passive registry. So we will not hear about dead or living dead voting, “said Salazar.
Tomorrow the CNE plenary will meet in Tena, Napo Province, in which the voters’ project will be discussed, in addition, it will be defined the electoral calendar, the operating plan and budget for the local elections.
