Serena Williams
American tennis player, world number one, beat Russian Maria Sharapova by 6-1, 6-4 in a 78 minutes match and became the first player to win the Madrid Masters title two years in a row.
Serena Williams, 31, took advantage of Sharapova’s downturn in the seventh game of the second set in addition to the eight double faults made by the blonde tennis player.
The veteran player again proved that with no injury, she’s unstoppable, even if her rival is the winner of the last Roland Garros. This is Serena’s fourth title of the season in six finals.
Williams thanked in Spanish at the awards ceremony. “Thank God, thank you all for being here, I’m very happy, thanks to Maria”.
