Several People Turned Off Their Lights on Earth Hour
Posted On 27 Mar 2011
Several citizens, governments, institutions and businesses turned off their lights of houses, municipalities, universities, schools, workplaces and emblematic monuments for one hour, from 20.30 to 21.30, to collaborate with Earth Hour, an initiative promoted by the WWF environmental group.
With this action, the WWF attempts to raise awareness in society about the importance of combating climate change.
About 4,000 cities around the world have participated in this event to leave global icons such as One Times Square building in New York, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Christ Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Duomo of Milan or the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin in darkness.
