Shakira, very close to her father

During the presentation of William Mebarak Chadid’s book “Al viento y al azar” in Barcelona (Spain) last Monday, Shakira said her father is her “weakness”.

Colombian singer went with her fiancé Gerard Piqué, her mother Nidia Ripoll and her brother Tonino. Piqué’s parents, Joan Piqué and Montserrat Bernabeu, were there too.

Shakira always said she started writing songs because she could see her father sitting in front of his writing machine all day long doing his work as a writer and journalist.

She relates in the book prologue all the love she feels for her father and how honorific this book is for her. Shakira certified the quality of her father’s work, saying she has been conquered by “ the rebellion in some texts, the structure anarchy and, even more, by the brutal honesty of the pages.”
