Six sectors of the economy will benefit from Valentine’s Day

For the Ecuadorian Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), February is not only the second preferred month by lovers to get married, it also marks the beginning of the period of greatest economic dynamism of the year.

Restaurants, music, motels, flower sales and chocolates, jewelry and cosmetics are the six sectors in the country that experiences a mayor turnover  this month.

According to data from the Economic Census of the INEC after Christmas and Mother’s Day,February 14 is one of the greatest seasons for  sales for 55.216 economic establishments related to the offer and sale of these items and services.

Sales of these businesses and services increase between 15 and 30% on average. While sectors such as flowers and chocolates, reaches the triple.

Meanwhile, the cosmetics sector expects Valentine’s Day to move an additional USD 18 million, due to the higher sales of fragrances and beauty treatments, preferred products on these dates.
