Sixth criminal charge against Raul Carrion

Yesterday, the Prosecution issued the sixth criminal charge against former Minister of Sport Raul Carrion, for the alleged crime of embezzlement. This time for the purchase of medical equipment to the company Jailnet SA, with an apparent price premium of over  $ 46,500.

According to the research carried out by the Prosecution, the contract was signed with the company for the amount of $ 138,566, of which the General Comptroller’s audit discovered the price premium.

Besides Carrion, the company representative, Lorenzo Campoverde, was also indicted for embezzlement.

According to the Prosecution’s indictment, the defendants are responsible for the use of their positions to make illegal concessions, which is punishable by imprisonment from one to five years.
