Skype belongs to Microsoft
In a effort to stay in the fast road of technology, Microsoft announced this Tuesday that have reached an agreement of buying the Skype hardware for $8,500 millions in cash to the group of investors of Silver Lake.
The creator of Windows explained that the administration departments of both companies agreed the transaction. The acquisition of Microsoft will increase the access of the communications of voice and video in real time. With more than 170 millions of users online and over 207,000 millions of minutes in talks, Skype is a pioneers in the field of communications IP.
Microsoft owner, Bill Gates assured that both companies share a vision of innovating the software and products for their customers. While the director of Silver Lake, Egon Durban, pointed out that his group is rather surprised to see how much has Skype grown. Durban added that he is eager with the project created by Microsoft since it will become one of the most complete and dynamic platforms in the world of communications.
Tony Bates and Steve Ballmer made the negotiations, Bates will assume the presidency of the Microsoft Skype Division.
