Solicitor General Carlos Jurado accused 18 defendants of the alleged crime of illegal association in the Odebrecht corruption case, including Vice President Jorge Glas.
Glas´ uncle Ricardo Rivera, former comptroller general Carlos Pólit and others are linked to the case.
Attorney General’s Office intervention comes a day after the Odebrecht informer José Conceição Santos accused Glas of having received $ 16 million from the company through his uncle, Ricardo Rivera. Two million were paid in 2010 for the return of the Brazilian construction company to Ecuador, and another 14 million for 1% of all contracts the company signed in the country after its return. (I)
