Domestic travel will grow with fair prices
Ecuadornews:
The new national tourism policy has three cornerstones: to promote internal travel, to achieve the 1×1 target (one foreign tourist per Ecuadorian citizen) and to generate investments.
The first axis will be developed with the commercialization of low-cost packages that will be promoted at the ‘Gran Feria Turística.’ Tourism minister Enrique Ponce said that this program would offer fair prices. To cite an example, a night in a hotel that usually costs $ 150, would cost $60 with a tourist package.
“Our country allows us to vacation 365 days a year, so we have to create products that motivate us to travel throughout the year,” Ponce said yesterday in an interview with the public media. He added that the hotel industry has well received the proposal and “they are willing to lower prices.”
The second primary objective of the Ministry, in the long term, is to bring one foreign tourist per Ecuadorian citizen. Ponce explained that this would be done with a smart communication and marketing strategy of the country; such as training to the officials of the different public offices of Ecuador at international level, among others. Finally, alliances, agreements, and other mechanisms seek to promote new tourist investments. (I)
